Emergence of Modernism

The beginning of Modernism began in the early 1920s, but was not very popular until after WWll.  Prominent figures from this time period include Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius, and Frank Llyod Wright.
The international style was the basis of modern design. It changed the pace in th e design world.  Emphasis was put on volume rather than mass, balance over symmetry, and expulsion of ornamentation. Frank Llyod Wright, being one of the top inspiring people from this period designed 100s of buildings and homes.

Review of blogs: I looked at Nichole Ks and Rachaels blog amd they were both very interesting.  Nicholes blog had an awesome description of the time period and every detail of design from this time period. Rachaels blog had a great description of the time period as well and showed some great examples of interior finishings. I also liked how she brough up the Dana Thomas house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright because a lot of us were able to visit it.
