Deutscher Werkbound

The deutscher werkbound movement which translates to the German workshop started in Vienna and Germany.  The purpose of this movement was to have the highest quality of design for the mass produced outlook.   Against artistic establishment but equivalent to the arts and crafts time period except they embraced mass production.  In order to produce the perfect design, design professionals and product manufacturers would collaborate.  The Vienna Secession was a major event during this movement as well.  Artists would protest against historicism but did not embrace Art Nouveau. Some major people from this time period was Josef Olbrich, Gustav Klimt, Otto Wagner, Josef Hoffman, and Koloman Moser.

current applications:

I reviewed Sammy's blog and I really was interested in the way she brought up the patterns and showed some examples.  I also thought the pictures she used of current applications matched the time period perfectly. I also viewed Rachael's blog and I like the way she showed the pictures of some chairs from the time period.  She also had great examples of buildings and interior rooms.
